Biological Function of Albumin & Allergies

Description

Water-soluble endodgenous Protein.

The 2nd most abundant Protein in the body - found in the Blood.

Biological Function of Albumin

Cardiovascular System

Albumin is a constituent of and is important in the maintenance of Plasma Cells (blood plasma) in the Blood.

Water & Water Balance

Albumin helps to regulate the body's Water Balance.

Albumin Enhances the Function of these Substances

Fatty Acids

(Synthetic) Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) are transported through the body via Albumin.

Minerals

Copper is transported through the Intestinal Mucosa to the Liver by Albumin.

Water & Water Balance

Albumin regulates the body's Water Balance.

Dietary Source of Albumin

Herbs: Goldenseal

These Substances Interfere with Albumin

Carbohydrates

Fructose causes the Cross-Linking (glycosylation of Albumin [scientific research - in vitro: Fructose causes glycosylation of Albumin 10 times more rapidly than does Glucose].

Glucose causes the Cross-Linking (glycosylation) of Albumin.

These Ailments Interfere with the body's Ability to Synthesize Albumin

Liver Ailments

People who suffer from Cirrhosis are unable to synthesize Albumin.

Also known as: Allergic Reactions

The substances that cause Allergies are also known as: Allergens; Antigens

Description

Unusual sensitive to the action of various Environmental Stimuli (Antigens).

Biology of Allergies

Immune System

Allergies occur when Antigens bind to IgE and this combined compound binds to Mast Cells within the body:

- Mast Cells then release Histamine and Serotonin in response to Antigens to try to defend the body against invading foreign substances.

Allergies are also caused by Eosinophils (specialized Cells of the Immune System) when they release Hydrogen Peroxidase at the site of the Allergy in an attempt to destroy what they "believe" to be Antigens [scientific research - people afflicted with Allergies usually have very high Eosinophil levels].

These Substances Alleviate Allergies

ENDOGENOUS SUBSTANCES

Amino Acids

Glutathione scavenges the Free Radicals that contribute to Allergies.

EXOGENOUS SUBSTANCES

Amino Acids

Histidine alleviates some types of Allergies.

Methionine alleviates some types of Allergies (by inhibiting the release of excessive Histamine).

Bacteria - Beneficial

Lactobacillus acidophilus alleviates some types of Allergies, (particularly Food Allergies) [anecdotal].

Bioflavonoids & Polyphenolic Compounds

Pycnogenol alleviates Allergies (by stabilizing the Cell Membranes of Mast Cells, causing them to be less reactive to Antigens and decreasing the ease with which they release their stored Histamine).

Quercetin stabilizes the Cell Membranes of Mast Cells [scientific research - in vitro].

- This strengthening causes the Mast Cells to be less reactive to Antigens (Allergens) and decreases the ease with which they release their stored Histamine [scientific research - in vitro].

Enzymes

Supplementary Digestive Enzymes can be remarkably effective in the treatment of Allergies by improving digestion and minimizing the absorption of allergy-triggering, incompletely digested Proteins (Antigens) in foods.

Minerals

Germanium alleviates Allergies (especially Food Allergies) [scientific research - humans: 100-300 mg per day].

Quinones

Coenzyme Q10 alleviates Allergies.

Terpenes

Ginkgolide-B can prevent Allergies by inhibiting Platelet Aggregating Factor (PAF) which stimulates Eosinophils to release lethal Hydrogen Peroxidase which destroys Antigens.

Vitamins

Vitamin B6 alleviates Allergies.

Vitamin C alleviates Allergies (by inhibiting the release of Histamine).

These Foods or Herbs Alleviate Allergies

Active Constituents

Flax Seed Oil alleviates some Allergies.

Ginkgo biloba inhibits the activities of Eosinophils. Ginkgolide B

Wheat Grass (juice) alleviates Allergies [folkore].

Orthodox Medical Treatment for Allergies

Pharmaceutical Drugs

Anti-Histamines are commonly prescribed in the treatment of Allergies [Anti-Histamines are rarely effective in the treatment of Allergies because they do not reduce the Inflammation caused by Serotonin that is released by Mast Cells at the same time that Histamine is released].

Prednisone (pharmaceutical, synthetic Cortisol) is often prescribed for the treatment of Allergies [caution: Prednisone can have undesirable side-effects].

These Substances Cause/Exacerbate Allergies

ENDOGENOUS SUBSTANCES

Immune System Chemicals

Excessive production of Platelet Aggregating Factor (PAF) is implicated in Allergies - PAF stimulates Eosinophils to release Hydrogen Peroxidase that destroys pathogens and Antigens.

EXOGENOUS SUBSTANCES

Amino Acids

Tyramine is a common cause of Allergies (due to Tyramine stimulating the release of excessive amounts of Histamine from Mast Cells leading to Allergic reactions).

Carbohydrates

Excessive consumption of Simple Sugars can cause Food Allergies.

Pharmaceutical Drugs

Sulphonamides (a group of pharmaceutical Antibiotics) can cause severe Allergies.

Proteins

Undigested dietary Proteins become Antigens usually due to faulty Digestive Systems allowing dietary Proteins to overload the Digestive System:

- Faulty Digestive Systems prevent dietary Proteins from being broken down into their constituent Amino Acids.

- Casein is often responsible for (Food) Allergies.

- Gluten and one of its constituents - Gliadin are often responsible for (Food) Allergies [scientific research - humans].

Volatile Oils

Cinnamaldehyde is a common trigger for Allergies.

Yeasts - Detrimental

Candida albicans proliferation allows Allergens to enter the circulatory system, causing Allergies.

These Toiletries/Foods/Beverages are Common Causes of Food Allergies

Substances that cause Allergies are known as Allergens.

Allergen

Alcoholic Beverages commonly cause Food Allergies. Alcohol (Ethanol)

Bee Pollen commonly causes Food Allergies. Pollen

Beer commonly causes Food Allergies. Tyramine

Cheese commonly causes Food Allergies. Tyramine

Chocolate commonly causes Food Allergies. Tyramine

Coffee commonly causes Food Allergies. Caffeine

Dairy Foods commonly causes Food Allergies.

Some types of commercial Mouthwashes cause Allergies. Cinnamaldehyde

Onions commonly causes Food Allergies.

Pineapple commonly causes Food Allergies. Tyramine

Some persons suffer from Allergies to various forms of Shellfish. Proteins

Some persons suffer from Allergies to Soya Beans and Soya Milk.

Some types of commercial Toothpaste cause Allergies. Cinnamaldehyde

Wheat commonly causes Food Allergies. Gliadin (from Gluten)

Wine commonly causes Food Allergies. Tyramine

Allergies are Implicated in these Ailments

The release of excessive amounts of Histamine from the Mast Cells due to the body's defence against Antigens is responsible for most of the symptoms of Allergies.

Digestive System

(Food) Allergy to Gliaden is the direct cause of Coeliac Disease.

Eyes and Sight

Allergies can be the underlying cause of Eye Inflammation - Allergy based Eye Inflammations cause watery Eyes due to the release of excessive Histamine by the body's Mast Cells.

Immune System

Allergies are often the forerunners of Cancer.

Allergies that are caused by the entry of Antigens into the body result in the production of excessive amounts of several Antibodies (Immunoglobulins) - including IgA, IgG and IgM.

Allergies increase the burden on the Immune System and cause the body to become more prone to Infection by:

- Detrimental Bacteria

- Detrimental Fungi (including Detrimental Yeasts and Detrimental Moulds).

- Viruses

Metabolism

Mild Fatigue can occur as a result of Allergies.

Musculoskeletal System

Allergies are often the underlying cause of Dermatitis.

Allergies are often the underlying cause of Eczema [scientific research - humans].

Allergies are often the underlying cause of Hives.

Itching is a side effect of many Allergies.

Lumbago can occur as a result of the release of Histamine by Mast Cells that occurs within the body as a response to Allergies.

Psoriasis can occur as a result of Allergies.

Rashes, reddening, Inflammation and flushing of the Skin often occurs as a result of Allergies - either Food Allergies or Skin Allergies- (due to release of excessive amounts of Histamine from the body's Mast Cells).

Respiratory System

Allergies are almost always the underlying cause of Asthma.

Hay Fever is caused by Allergies to wind-borne Pollens.

Congestion of the Nasal Passages of the Nose is often attributable to Allergies.

Types of Allergies:

Asthma

Coeliac Disease

Hay Fever

Rashes
