ACNE

Acne

Also known as: Acne Vulgaris
Description

Skin ailment in which the Sebaceous Glands become inflamed.

Acne generally begins to manifest during adolescence and is caused by overactivity of the Sebaceous Glands. The Sebum produced by the glands cannot escape because the Hair Follicles become blocked by Keratin. The Keratin blockage become black, forming Blackheads.


These Substances Alleviate or Prevent Acne

ENDOGENOUS SUBSTANCES
Enzymes - Antioxidants

Acne sufferers often have low serum Glutathione Peroxidase levels.



Fatty Acids

Alpha-Linolenic Acid (LNA) (consumed internally).
Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) alleviates Acne (consumed internally) [scientific research].



Hydroxy Acids

Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (including Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid) (applied topically) alleviate Acne.
